Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
The short version BloomBook does not collect, transmit or share your data. Everything you enter is stored on your device and, if you choose to enable iCloud sync, in your own private iCloud account. There are no BloomBook servers, no analytics, and no way for anyone to access your data.
What data BloomBook stores
BloomBook stores only the information you choose to enter:
- Your baby's name, date of birth, sex, gestation, birth measurements and NHS number
- Growth measurements (weight, length, head circumference) with dates and optional notes
- Daily tracking entries such as feeds, sleeps and nappy changes
- Photos you choose to attach to measurements
- Immunisation records (dates, batch numbers, injection sites)
- Newborn screening results
- Health review records
- Developmental milestone records
- Health professional contact details you enter (GP, health visitor, midwife)
Where your data is stored
All data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you have iCloud enabled on your device, your data is additionally synced to your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit service. This sync runs end-to-end between your own devices and is managed entirely by Apple's infrastructure.
If you have multiple Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account, your data syncs automatically between them via Apple's CloudKit service.
What BloomBook does not do
- It does not operate any servers or databases
- It does not collect analytics or usage data
- It does not use any third-party tracking, advertising or analytics SDKs
- It does not transmit your data to any external service
- It does not give the developer access to your data in any form
- It does not use your data for advertising or marketing
- It does not sell or share your data with any third party
NHS numbers
If you choose to enter your baby's NHS number, it is stored locally on your device (and in your private iCloud account if iCloud sync is enabled). The NHS number is masked in the app interface by default and can only be revealed by tapping a show/hide toggle. It is never transmitted externally.
Photos
Photos you attach to growth measurements are stored locally alongside the measurement data. They are not uploaded to any external service. If iCloud sync is enabled, photos may be included in the iCloud sync to your own devices.
Data export and deletion
You can export all your data as a CSV file at any time from the Settings screen. You can permanently delete all data from within the app. Deleting the app also removes all locally stored data. To remove data from iCloud, you can manage your iCloud storage through your device's Settings.
Children's privacy
BloomBook is designed for parents and carers to record their child's health information. The app does not collect data directly from children. All data entry is performed by the parent or carer. No data is transmitted to the developer or any third party.
Third-party services
BloomBook uses Apple's CloudKit service for optional iCloud sync. Apple's handling of your iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. No other third-party services are used.
Reference data
BloomBook displays publicly available health reference data sourced from NHS.uk, GOV.UK and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH). This reference data is bundled within the app and does not require any network requests to access. No personal data is sent to these organisations.
