Terms of Use

Last updated: May 2026

Welcome to BloomBook. BloomBook is developed and maintained by Stack & Stone Limited, a company based in the United Kingdom ("we," "us," or "our"). The BloomBook application on iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS, together with any associated website and materials, are referred to collectively as the "App" in this document.

Your use of the App is subject to the terms and conditions set out below (these "Terms of Use"). The App is provided free of charge as a personal convenience tool. It is not a service, and no ongoing obligation of support, maintenance, or availability is assumed.

Please read these Terms of Use carefully. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old or are the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction. If you are under the age of 18 and do not have the express consent of a parent or guardian, or if you do not wish to be bound by these Terms of Use, you may not access or use the App. We do not promise, guarantee, or warrant any specific results from your use of the App.

These Terms of Use contain important information about your rights, obligations, limitations, and exclusions that may apply to you, including an assumption of risk clause, a limitation of liability clause, a warranty disclaimer, and a choice of law provision.

01Description of the App

BloomBook is a passive record-keeping tool. It provides a place for parents and carers to log their baby's growth measurements, daily care (such as feeds, sleeps and nappies), immunisation records, newborn screening results, health reviews, and developmental milestones.

The App also displays publicly available health reference data published by third-party organisations — specifically NHS.uk, GOV.UK, and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH). This data has been manually transcribed from those public sources and bundled into the App at the time of each release. We do not produce, independently verify, or take responsibility for the accuracy of the original third-party reference data, nor do we warrant that the transcription of that data into the App is free from error. We use standard published formulae (such as the LMS method for centile calculation) to present this third-party data in context, but make no clinical judgements or recommendations. The App is not an authoritative source for any health reference data — the original publications from NHS.uk, GOV.UK, and RCPCH should always be consulted directly.

All data you enter is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, your data may also sync to your private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit service. We do not operate any servers, databases, or online services. We do not collect, transmit, or have access to your data.

02Third-party reference data sources

The App displays data reproduced from the following publicly available third-party sources. We are not the author or publisher of any of this data and accept no responsibility for its accuracy, completeness, or currency. The originating organisations are solely responsible for the content they publish.

All of the above data is freely available to the public from NHS.uk, GOV.UK, and RCPCH. We have manually transcribed this data into the App for convenience. While reasonable care has been taken during transcription, we do not warrant that the data as it appears in the App is identical to the original source material. Errors may have been introduced during transcription, formatting, or implementation. The App is a convenience tool, not an authoritative reference — you should always verify information against the original publications. If any of this data is updated by the originating organisations after the App's release, the App may not reflect those changes until a subsequent update is issued.

03No medical advice — your responsibility

BloomBook is not a medical device. It is not regulated as a medical device. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations of any kind.

The App is a passive display and record-keeping tool only. Any reference data shown (including growth centile charts, immunisation schedules, developmental milestones, and screening information) is reproduced from publicly available UK government and NHS publications. You could find the same information on NHS.uk or GOV.UK. We merely present this public information in a convenient format.

You accept sole responsibility for how you interpret and act on any information displayed in the App. You must not rely on the App as a substitute for professional medical advice. You should always consult your GP, health visitor, or other qualified healthcare professional regarding any concerns about your child's health or development.

If you believe you or your child are experiencing any health concerns, you should contact your GP, NHS 111, or emergency services directly. Do not use this App to make health decisions.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, currentness, or reliability of any information displayed within the App, whether arising from the original source data or from errors introduced during transcription into the App. Reference data is bundled at the time of release and may not reflect the most recent updates to official guidance. Centile calculations, milestone timings, immunisation schedules, and screening information as shown in the App may differ from the original source material due to transcription errors, rounding, software bugs, or other implementation issues.

04Intellectual property

The App, including its design, code, user interface, graphics, and documentation (the "App Content"), is owned by Stack & Stone Limited and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws of England and Wales and international treaties. Subject to these Terms of Use, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You agree not to: (a) copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App or App Content; (b) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App; (c) remove any copyright or other proprietary notices from the App; or (d) attempt to extract the source code of the App.

All rights not expressly granted in these Terms of Use are reserved.

05Your data

All data you enter into the App (including your baby's personal information, measurements, photos, and health records) remains yours. We do not claim any ownership of, or rights to, your data. Because all data is stored locally on your device (and in your private iCloud account if you have iCloud enabled), you are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your data.

You can export your data as a CSV file at any time from the Settings screen. You can permanently delete all data from within the App. Deleting the App also removes all locally stored data. For full details on how your data is handled, please see the Privacy Policy.

06Apple App Store

You acknowledge that the availability of the App is dependent on the Apple App Store from which you downloaded it. You acknowledge that these Terms of Use are between you and Stack & Stone Limited, and not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content. The following additional terms apply:

07Acceptable use

You agree that you will use the App in a manner consistent with all applicable laws and regulations. You shall not: (a) use the App for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to gain unauthorised access to the App or any systems or networks connected to it; (c) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App; or (d) introduce software or automated agents to the App, or use the App to produce, distribute, or process any harmful or malicious content.

08Assumption of risk

You expressly acknowledge and agree that your use of the App is entirely at your own risk.

The App is a free tool that displays publicly available third-party reference data in a convenient format. We are not the author or publisher of the underlying health reference data. That data has been manually transcribed into the App and may contain errors not present in the original sources. We accept no responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of either the original data or its reproduction within the App. The original publishers (NHS.uk, GOV.UK, RCPCH) are solely responsible for the content they publish, and you should refer to those original sources directly for authoritative information.

You acknowledge that: (a) you are responsible for independently verifying any information displayed in the App against the original source publications and with a qualified healthcare professional; (b) the App is not a substitute for professional medical advice, and you will not treat it as such; (c) any decisions you make based on information displayed in the App are your own responsibility; and (d) information in the App may not exactly match the original source material due to transcription errors, software bugs, or implementation differences.

09Warranty disclaimer

The App is provided free of charge on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and quiet enjoyment.

We do not warrant that: (a) the App will meet your requirements; (b) the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components; (c) any reference data displayed is accurate, complete, or current; or (d) any errors in the App will be corrected.

Nothing in these Terms of Use affects your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable United Kingdom legislation. Where any provision is inconsistent with your statutory rights, your statutory rights shall prevail.

10Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms of Use, including but not limited to damages for loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, or any other losses, however caused and regardless of the theory of liability.

Our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to these Terms of Use or the App, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, shall not exceed the total amount you paid us for the App (which, for a free app, is zero).

You acknowledge that the App is provided free of charge and that these limitations of liability reflect a fair allocation of risk. We would not make the App available without these limitations.

Nothing in these Terms of Use excludes or limits liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by proven negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any other matter in respect of which it would be unlawful to exclude or restrict liability. These carve-outs are required by United Kingdom law and cannot be contracted out of.

11Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from and against any claim, liability, loss, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of, or reliance on, the App or any information displayed within it; (b) any health decisions you make based on information displayed in the App; (c) your violation or breach of any provision in these Terms of Use; (d) your violation of any rights of a third party; or (e) your violation of applicable laws or regulations.

You acknowledge that the App displays publicly available third-party data and that we bear no responsibility for the accuracy of that data or for any actions you take based on it.

12Termination

These Terms of Use remain in effect for as long as you use the App. You may terminate your use of the App at any time by deleting it from your device(s). We may discontinue or modify the App at any time, for any reason, at our sole discretion, without liability to you. If we discontinue the App, we will use reasonable efforts to provide advance notice where practicable. Upon termination, all licences granted to you under these Terms of Use will immediately cease.

13Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms of Use, and any claim, dispute, or controversy of any nature arising out of or relating to these Terms of Use, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms of Use shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland, you may also bring proceedings in the Scottish courts, and if you are a consumer resident in Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of Northern Ireland.

Nothing in these Terms of Use affects your rights as a consumer to rely on mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you are resident.

14General provisions

Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms of Use shall not operate as a waiver of such right or provision. If any provision in these Terms of Use is, for any reason, held to be invalid or unenforceable, the other provisions of these Terms of Use will be unimpaired and the invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed modified so that it is valid and enforceable to the maximum extent permitted by law.

The section titles in these Terms of Use are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect. The word "including" means including without limitation. These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the use of the App.

15Changes to these Terms of Use

We may amend these Terms of Use from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App following the posting of revised Terms of Use constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised terms, you should stop using and delete the App.
